Hello
I enjoyed your research on Phillip and Dorcas and it helped verify what I have learned through my own research. Miller’s version is not the only wrong one out there (Lowther and others). Pretty sure you and I are related through these 2, my ancestry goes through Phillip, Isaac, Philip (as they moved into Virginia), poss David Sutton, Phillip David and so on. I’m still working on sorting out a few ancestors. Wish you were on this side of the family. It would be a help for sure. Thanks for what you’ve done.
Dave, it appears I failed to reply to your comments. I would be happy to visit with you more about your side of the family. Our Y-DNA study group has a couple of people who descend along your line as far as Phillip, Phillip, Isaac, Phillip, as you do. If you were to take such a test, we might be able to verify and possibly narrow down the family line for you. Let me know if you are interested in exploring more. (revscox@gmail.com) We have a lot to learn from each other.
Dorothy, thanks for taking the time to comment. I hope some of the research fits somewhere in your line and adds a little clarity to the genealogical adventure!
Thank you for sharing this wealth of research with any available DNA support. Jacob (1727-1809) was my 6GGF and my mother’s line descends from Virginia to Georgia: Jacob – Philip Cox (1755-1834) – William Taylor Cox (1791 – ?) – Philip Andrew Cox (1818-1882) – Marion Lemuel Cox (1842-1911). Unfortunately, I don’t know of anyone who has completed Y-DNA on my line but my mother and I posted our test results a few years ago. If our results will help you in any way, I’ll be glad to share those. I’m searching for documented proof of the link between William Taylor Cox and his son, Philip Andrew Cox. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

Lydia, it is good to come across another branch of the family. We do have one person in our Y-DNA test group who believes that he descends from William Taylor Cox and Phillip A. Cox. I will email you directly to try to put the two of you together. He is also searching for the same proof as you–documentation of the connection between Phillip A and William Taylor Cox. I suspect he has completed an autosomal DNA test, which is more likely to be a match with you and your mother.
